Suppliers must not use involuntary or forced labour, whether indentured, bonded, imprisoned or otherwise. All employment must be on a voluntary basis and workers should be free to terminate their employment at any time with reasonable notice.
Traceability and transparency are key focuses for ensuring sustainable and ethical sourcing at Tigerlily. Our social audit program holds accountable all suppliers who are also signatories to our Code of Ethical Trade. By conducting regular visits with our suppliers, we see firsthand the conditions and standards in our partner factories. We have built trusted relationships with our long-term partners and have been auditing our suppliers for more than ten years.

We engage the services of internationally recognised certification consultants Bureau Veritas, to conduct appropriate testing, inspections and audit services. This ensures our suppliers are visited annually and comply with international standards and our Code of Ethical Trade. Where Bureau Veritas auditing is not possible, suppliers are required to meet SMETA or BSCI standards
Our approach to conscious sourcing means we never seek a lowest-price partner. We aim to forge partnerships that contribute fairly and mindfully to benefit our partners, environment, customers and local communities.
Code of Ethical Trade
AT TIGERLILY WE OWN WORK WITH PARTNERS WHO ARE SIGNATORIES TO OUR CODE OF ETHICAL TRADE AND PART OF OUR SOCIAL AUDITING PROCESS
Our ethical sourcing program comprises of 11 mandatory requirements to trade. We are unwavering in our belief, there is no need to substitute quality on our mission to reduce our footprint and create equal opportunities and fair working conditions for all. At Tigerlily we only work with partners who are signatories to our code of ethical trade and part of our social auditing process.Forced LabourChild Labour
Suppliers must not employ workers younger than the minimum age or under the age for completing
compulsory education in the country of manufacture. In addition, suppliers must comply with all local
legal requirements for the work of authorised young workers, particularly those pertaining to hours of
work, wages and working conditions.Harassment
Suppliers must be committed to a workplace free of harassment. Suppliers must treat all workers with
respect and dignity. No worker shall be subject to harsh or inhumane treatment, including sexual
harassment, sexual abuse, corporal punishment, mental or physical coercion or verbal abuse.Renumeration
Suppliers must pay a fair remuneration for both men and women workers, of at least the minimum
compensation required by local law and provide all legally mandated benefits. In addition to their
compensation for regular hours of work, workers must be compensated for overtime hours at such
premium rate as is legally required or, in those countries where such laws do not exist, at least equal
to their regular hourly compensation rate. In addition, Suppliers will not use monetary fines as a form
of discipline and must not delay, withhold or defer wages legally due to its employees, outside of
industry standards.Working Hours
Suppliers must ensure that, except in extraordinary circumstances, working hours and consecutive
working days will be fair and in compliance with the local regulations and planned in a way to ensure
safe and humane working conditions. In addition, all workers shall be entitled to at least one day off in
every consecutive seven-day period.Non-Discrimination
Suppliers must not discriminate against any worker based on age, race, colour, sex, religion, political
opinion, sexuality or disability. Suppliers must ensure employment - including hiring, remuneration,
benefits, advancements, termination and retirement is based on ability and not to the exclusion or
preference that impairs equality of opportunity or treatment in employment.Health and Safety
Suppliers must provide a safe and healthy working environment, which will facilitate optimal physical
and mental health in compliance with all applicable, legally mandated standards for workplace health
and safety in the countries in which they operate. Appropriate training must be given to workers on
workplace and safety practices and procedures.Freedom of Association
Suppliers must recognise and respect the rights of workers to exercise lawful rights of free association,
including joining or not joining any labour union or association without prior permission. Suppliers must
also respect the legal right of workers to bargain collectively.Environment
Suppliers must comply with all applicable environmental legislation and standards, to facilitate the
protection of the environment. We encourage and expect the adoption of sustainable best practices.
Suppliers should be committed to reducing the environmental impact of their designs, manufacturing
processes and waste emissions.Anti-bribery and Corruption
Suppliers should ensure that their business conduct compliant with all legislation and aligned to high
ethical standards, including honesty, transparency and legality. Suppliers shall not engage in any form
of corrupt practices, including but not limited to extortion, fraud or bribery.Implementation
The Code forms part of TIGERLILY’s Terms and Conditions of Purchase. Suppliers must communicate
this Code with all workers and subcontractors and ensure they comply with the standards set out in
this document. TIGERLILY may review and revise this Code periodically which can be viewed on our
website. Suppliers further grant TIGERLILY the right to conduct audits and or physical inspections
(announced or otherwise) of its facilities and records on an on-going basis to verify compliance with
Certifications & Auditing
When it comes to auditing at Tigerlily, we believe that specialised expertise is required. Bureau Veritas is an international certification agency that helps us with this, supporting the process with a dedicated team guiding us through our social auditing process of each partner. Our relationship with Bureau Veritas ensures compliance with our code as well as local and international regulatory requirements, allowing us to deliver product with confidence.
The criteria for each audit is structured around our code of conduct and standards equivalent to SA800 and Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP). Before we start a partnership, we ensure they understand and agree to abide by our Code of Conduct. Each partnering factory joins our social audit program with an annual social audit inspection.
The assessment frequency is determined once the audit is complete. Corrective action plans are put into place where required and an agreed timeframe is recognized to correct any issue. The most important outcome is to encourage and support ongoing improvement.
To support our partners, we also accept other forms of certification (SMETA and BSCI) that adhere to the same international standards. SMETA stands for the SEDEX Members Ethical Trade Audit. The methodology practiced is based on the Ethical Trade Initiative Base Code. BSCI stands for the Business Social Compliance Initiative. Both certifications rely on expert auditing partners, including Bureau Veritas.
Our supply chain is made up of two Tiers. Tier One specifies all partners that manufacture product, Tier Two specifies all mills and printing houses.

We are working with the remaining two partners to help them achieve accreditation.
Our goal is to ensure 100% of our Tier One
Partners are ethical certified by 2020.
As part of our commitment to traceability, we have identified twelve Tier Two Partners who provide fabric and trims to our 28 Tier One Partners. We know 11 (92%) of these suppliers hold our standard of accreditation. Our commitment is to continuously trace, audit and monitor our supply chain from end-to-end.
Through our partnership with Bureau Veritas all suppliers are monitored for ethical compliance, but we are also able to monitor environmental compliance for the following:
- Discharge of waste in water supply
- Disposal of chemical and solid waste
- Improper air emissions
- Handling of waste
- Use of authorized waste contractor
- Environmental permits
- Communication of environmental discharge to local community
Our future focus is the additional implementation of an assessment structure for:
- Water and Air emissions management
- Solid waste and hazardous substance management
